In this project review, I’ll explore how key takeaways from a B2B marketing course, which I attended for a total of 12 hours (three-hour sessions across four classes), were applied to revamp the company’s company website. This initiative aimed to modernize the site, enhance its branding, and align with contemporary B2B trends.

Key B2B Marketing Insights and Their Application

1. Understanding B2B Marketing Trends

  • Insight:
    • 83% of B2B buyers research and evaluate options before contacting suppliers.
    • 70-80% of decision-makers prefer digital-first approaches.
    • By 2025, 80% of interactions are projected to occur digitally.
  • Application:
    • Created a user-friendly website that showcases the company’s offerings in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner.
    • Incorporated an easy-to-navigate layout with emphasis on solutions, demo access, and direct contact points.

2. Establishing Thought Leadership

  • Insight:
    • Standing out in a competitive industry requires demonstrating thought leadership.
  • Application:
    • Added a blog section dedicated to thought leadership articles.
    • Featured case studies and white papers to establish credibility and expertise in AI-powered solutions.

3. Branding and Positioning

  • Insight:
    • A strong brand identity increases perceived value and long-term trust.
  • Application:
    • Adopted a new one-line slogan to emphasize our mission and vision.
    • Refined the brand’s visual identity using a modern color palette (purple as the main color, symbolizing collaboration and innovation, balanced with blue and red hues).

Website Redesign Process

1. Gathering and Showcasing Achievements

  • Step: Collected photos from all projects completed since 2018.
  • Outcome:
    • Created a gallery page that highlights the company’s key projects, showcasing our capabilities and areas of expertise.
    • Designed a timeline page to present the company’s history and milestones.

2. Collaborative Design

  • Step: Sketched website designs on an iPad to visualize the layout and user journey.
  • Outcome:
    • Developed a clean, intuitive interface that emphasizes key offerings while maintaining a professional aesthetic.

3. Defining Key Products and Services

  • Step: Selected three flagship products/services to spotlight.
  • Outcome:
    • Dedicated sections to these products on the homepage, supported by in-depth pages with visuals, descriptions, and use cases.

4. Enhancing Visual Appeal

  • Step: Finalized the primary color palette with a blend of purple, blue, and red tones.
  • Outcome:
    • Achieved a visually cohesive and engaging design that reflects innovation and collaboration.

Implementation Highlights

  1. Interactive Elements:
    • Integrated scrolling animations and large typography for a modern feel.
    • Optimized for mobile devices to ensure accessibility and responsiveness.
  2. API Logging:
    • Implemented a Next.js logging solution to track user interactions and gather data for continuous improvement.

Reflection and Next Steps

What Worked Well

  • Consolidating all project photos and milestones created a powerful narrative of the company’s journey and achievements.
